JPL Staff Wave at Saturn on The Day The Earth Smiled

Millions or perhaps billions of people had the chance to wave at Saturn for the biggest ever group photo in history on the July 19th. Dubbed by NASA as The Day The Earth Smiled, space probe Cassini, currently in orbit around Saturn, took a series of photos of the ringed giant with our little blue planet Earth in the frame.

People from all over the world joined in and have been uploading their pictures of the event to pages at

Wave at Saturn and the Day The Earth Smiled event was intended to mark the successes of the Cassini mission through billions of miles through space with a bit of fun. It is also a reminder that all 7 billion inhabitants of this planet share the same home – Earth.
