Is Vaping E-cigarettes healthier than smoking tobacco? Vaping e-cigarettes is a modern alternative to smoking tobacco and  are rapidly gaining in popularity, but is “vaping” good for your health? If you’re a cigarette smoker then the answer is “hell yeah” because switching from puffing poison pumped, tobacco filled fags to vaping nicotine only e-cigarettes can lead to major health improvements. If you don’t smoke however, just say no to all cigarettes whether prefixed with an “e-” or not because by not smoking you’re already doing the best thing you can do for your health.

What we already Know about Smoking Tobacco Cigarettes

We’ve all seen the advertising campaigns, which warn “Smoking Kills” “Smoking Causes Cancer” “Smoking is the Devil” etc. Save the last one, these slogans are all based on solid medical  research on tobacco filled cigarettes and pipes, which has been being carried out for decades. It is proven that smoking cigarettes causes lung cancer, cancers of the mouth, lips, nasal cavity (nose) and sinuses, larynx (voice box), pharynx (throat), oesophagus (swallowing tube), stomach, pancreas, kidney, bladder, uterus, cervix, colon/rectum, ovary (mucinous), and acute myeloid leukemia.

Cigarette smoking causes blood circulation issues including heart attacks, stroke, gangrene and blood clots or deep vein thrombosis.

Your sex life may also be totally ruined if you smoke since it can cause erection failure issues in men. Your stamina and sexual performance is obviously going to suffer since your bodies ability to breathe air and pump blood to your love muscles is hindered severely by smoking.

If you’re trying to make babies then lay off the tobacco as it causes deformed sperm in men, makes women less fertile and can lead to early menopause. Woman smokers are also 20 times more likely to suffer from cancer by if they are also on the pill.

As well as harming your own body, cigarette smoke coming off the end of your fags or being blown out as you exhale can cause many of the above problems for anyone who is regularly in your vicinity as you enjoy your smokes. This includes your loved ones, your family, your children and your unborn children.

What are e-cigarettes, and what is Vaping?

E-cigarettes are cigarette or cigar shaped tubes that when sucked, cause a liquid solution to heat up inside them and turn into a vapour. The user is able to inhale and exhale this vapour which looks and feels like proper cigarette smoke. Most e-cigarettes contain a nicotine solution whereas some are simply flavoured water.

“Vaping” e-cigarettes is the act of inhaling and exhaling the vapours produced by the e-cigarette as opposed to “smoking” which is the act of inhaling and exhaling the smoke from a normal cigarette.

So how is vaping e-cigarettes healthier than smoking cigarettes?

Nicotine based  e-cigarettes have been proven to be much, much more healthy than tobacco cigarettes because they do not contain the lethal cocktail of harmful substances which can lead to the cancers and other diseases and health issues listed above. Tobacco smoke contains more than 44 toxic chemicals and according to the World Health Organisation (The WHO), is responsible for 5.4 million deaths per year. Vaping e-cigarettes does away with the evil tobacco weed altogether and provides only what the smoker wants and craves for – the highly addictive super drug – nicotine.

So apart from being the most addictive drug on the planet, which is reason enough to avoid it like the plague, is nicotine harmful? Firstly you should be aware that in the past nicotine was widely used as a pesticide, so it is lethal to small insects. A high concentration dose of around 30 to 60 mg of the stuff could kill a man. However, since a high dose e-cigarette contains 12 mg of nicotine which takes around 220 puffs to consume, a user would have to puff furiously with five or more e-cigarettes stuffed between his lips in order to top himself. There may be easier ways.

A study published in the Journal of Public Health Policy 2011, found that the liquid and vapour produced by nicotine based e-cigarettes contain toxins at a level of around one thousandth of that in cigarette smoke.

So it won’t kill you instantly, but what other health risks does nicotine consumption through vaping e-cigarettes pose? So far, medical research has found absolutely nothing. No cancer risk, no heart disease risk, and no shorter life span threat.

On the positive side you can read anecdotal accounts from 1000’s of people who swear that vaping e-cigarettes have helped them quit their deadly tobacco smoking habit. A number medical studies including several listed in PubMed have concluded that switching from smoking normal cigarettes to vaping e-cigarettes helps smokers stop tobacco consumption whilst reducing tobacco withdrawal symptoms and avoiding restarting old habits.

Again, the best way to quit cigarettes is to not start using them in the first place.
